Paytem Jane nació en 1985 y su principal influencia ha sido Michael Jackson. Pero también, gracias a sus padres, que le ponían música en el coche, recuerda otros artistas como Bee Gees, Abba, Madonna, Roxette, Boney M, Springsteen, Fangoria, Cindy Laumper, Prince y Queen.

Más tarde, empezó a escuchar rock como AC/DC, Metallica o Foo Fighters, y otros como los Backstreet Boys.

Además, le encantan los musicales. Sus favoritos son “Chicago”, “Grease”, “Rent”, “Sonrisas y lágrimas”, “Hair”, Mamma Mía”, “Saturday Night Fever”…

...eligió su nombre artístico en honor a su abuela?

Realmente, se llama Monica Paytom H. Sanz pero, por un lado, eligió Paytem por su significado: guerrera. También sus fans son llamadas "warriors". 

Jane se llamaba su abuela, que según cuenta la propia Paytem, también quiso ser artista y es una inspiración para ella. Estaban muy unidas y por eso ella quería que el nombre de su abuela saliera en la portada de un disco.

...chose her stage name in honor of her grandmother? 

Actually, she is called Monica Payton H. Sanz but, first, she chose Paytem for its meaning: warrior. Also her fans are called "warriors".

And Jane is because of her grandmother's name, who according to Paytem herself, also wanted to be an artist and is an inspiration for her. They were very close and so she wants her grandmother's name to be on a album cover.
